Parijs, Olympische Spelen en medailles....... 

Ik heb eigenlijk nog helemaal niets geschreven over de Olympische Spelen in Parijs. En juist terwijl ik best wel vaak voor de televisie zit om te kijken. Niet alleen voor de sport maar zeker ook voor de meer dan prachtige opnames die in Parijs worden gemaakt. Want wat geweldig is het om al die opnames in en om Parijs te zien. Er moet zo over nagedacht zijn hoe Parijs op zijn best getoond kan worden. En dat is, wat mij betreft, volledig gelukt. De prachtige opnames van het beachvolleybal b.v.: het speelveld met op de achtergrond de Eiffeltoren. De paardrijwedstrijden in Versailles., de triatlon in de Seine (even buiten de discusiie of het wel verstandig was) .......Het is genieten en nog eens genieten. Op dit moment kijk ik naar de marathon en zie je de mooie straten van Parijs, de oude gebouwen.......Nu weer shots van de marathon lopers met op de achtergrond ook weer de Eiffeltoren. Dat alles in "lege" straten (geen verkeer), de zon schijnt, prachtige opnames via een drone..... kortom ik geniet met volle teugen. Ik denk vooral aan de organisatie van zo'n evenement...... niet te bevatten.... Ik denk er aan hoe mensen op zoek gaan naar plekken waar het één en ander moet plaatsvinden, hoe dat op de televisie zal overkomen...... alleen dat aspect al. Hoe gaat dat met beveiliging, onderkomen van de sporters, al de bezoekers, het verkeer, hoe leg je zo'n halve stad plat voor bv een marathon.... nee, ik vind het geweldig en geniet van Parijs.... als de rust is weergekeerd moeten we er beslist weer eens heen. Het is zo lang gelden dat we daar een tijdje waren. Er komen opeens allerlei herinneringen naar boven over Parijs, daar kom ik beslist nog eens op terug.

Wat ik als laatste niet onbesproken wil laten is nog het het stukje over de medailles. Daar is een stukje Eiffeltoren in verwerkt. Bij restauratiewerkzaamheden zijn "restjes" van de Eiffeltoren bewaard en die restjes zijn nu als een mooie zeskant boven op de medaille verwerkt. Die zeshoekige vorm verwijst naar de vorm van Frankrijk. Om het stukje Eiffeltoren zitten onregelmatige stralen om Parijs als Lichtstad weer te geven. Blijkbaar is de achterkant van zo'n medaille over de jaren altijd hetzelfde. Dit jaar mocht de Eiffeltoren aan de achterkant worden toegevoegd. 

Als ik sporter was zou ik reuze reuze trots zijn op zo'n medaille, juist om het verhaal er achter... haha... maar ik ben dan ook Francofiel en geen topsporter😀

Ik lees nu net dat een bronzen medaille van één van de sporters aan kleur begint te verliezen. Blijkbaar is zweet niet goed voor zo'n mooie plak. Of het waar is weet ik niet, in ieder geval zou ik hem dan maar extra zuinig op zijn en heel goed bewaren!

 

 Paris, Olympic Games and medals....... I haven't actually written anything about the Olympic Games in Paris yet. And even though I often sit in front of the television to watch. Not only for the sport, but certainly also for the more than beautiful recordings that are made in Paris. How wonderful it is to see all those recordings in and around Paris. So much thought must have gone into how Paris can be shown at its best. And as far as I'm concerned, that was completely successful. The beautiful shots of beach volleyball, for example: the playing field with the Eiffel Tower in the background. The horse riding competitions in Versailles, the triathlon in the Seine (leaving aside the discussion of whether it was wise)..I love it!. At the moment I am watching the marathon and you see the beautiful streets of Paris, the old buildings....... Now shots of the marathon runners with the Eiffel Tower in the background. All this in "empty" streets (no traffic), the sun is shining, beautiful shots via a drone... in short, I am enjoying it to the fullest. I especially think about the organization of such an event...... unbelievable... I think about how people look for places where things have to take place, how that will come across on television. ...... just that aspect alone. How do you deal with security, accommodation for the athletes, all the visitors, the traffic, how do you shut down half a city for a marathon, for example... no, I think it's great and enjoy Paris.... when peace has returned we will definitely have to go there again. It's been so long since we were there for a while. Suddenly all kinds of memories about Paris come to mind, I will definitely come back to that. The last thing I don't want to leave undiscussed is the part about the medals. A piece of the Eiffel Tower has been incorporated into it. During restoration work, "leftovers" of the Eiffel Tower were saved and those leftovers are now incorporated as a beautiful hexagon on top of the medal. That hexagonal shape refers to the shape of France. There are irregular rays around the part of the Eiffel Tower to represent Paris as the City of Light. Apparently the back of such a medal has always been the same over the years. This year the Eiffel Tower was added to the back. If I were an athlete I would be very proud of such a medal, especially because of the story behind it... haha... but I am also a Francophile and not a top athlete😀 I just read that a bronze medal from one of the athletes start to lose color. Apparently sweat is not good for such a nice slice. I don't know if it's true, but in any case I would take extra care of it and keep it very well!
