Het is al weer maandagochtend. Time flies when you're having fun.......
It's Monday morning again. Time flies when you're having fun....... Sunday was certainly fun, but it was mainly dedicated to DIY. There was work to be done, which is why friend Patrick had come over, because working with a friend is more sociable and inspiring..... And work there was...... the passageway for the future kitchen in the Grange had to be finished neatly, and that meant laying bricks and making a bulkhead for the cement that needs to finish everything off nicely..... In addition, thought was given to the doors in the Grange, which are really due for replacement, but actually need to hold out for another year or two.... During the last holiday, something broke off the bottom of the right Grange door so that the door wouldn't swing anymore. That is certainly not convenient, especially when the Samba has to be moved out, so a lot of thought went into how to repair it. After all that thinking, action was taken and the result was a door that could open and close again. After that, Patrick threw himself into excavating the ground for the Grange... the doors were scraping the ground and were therefore difficult to open. About 20 cm of soil was removed, and today the plan is to let that slope upwards gradually so that my husband's Samba can easily drive in and out. And where was I in all of this??? Me, who is actually doing a lot of DIY... haha... this time I let the men do their thing and threw myself into removing all the pruning waste that my husband had left lying around here and there during the last holiday (what a... shitty job...). I was almost like... do it yourself... but yeah... I wanted to plant bulbs in exactly those spots that I had brought back from the Netherlands. At least 12 bags of iris bulbs... they had to go against the house and along the low wall... I can already picture it perfectly in the spring: blooming irises in front of and along the wall... Next to the front door, I planted some pink tulips with grape hyacinths in between... I once saw this at Monet's gardens in Giverny (incidentally, those were pink tulips with forget-me-nots in between) and I've always intended to do that myself someday. So now they're next to the front door... I'm curious to see how they turn out... Furthermore, I occupied myself with lunch... leftover ratatouille with bread, later dinner: stewed meat that had been simmering on the stove all day, pumpkin with goat cheese and pasta, and making a wreath from the horse chestnuts that lie in piles under the chestnut tree here. The wreath is finished, but I still need to look for some rosehips to brighten it up a bit. Now, I completely forgot to tell you about my morning walk this morning. The sky looked promising, so I just had to get out for a bit with Barkley this morning; go for a walk. Off we went towards the donkeys. Along the path, you pass the ruins of a barn that once stood there. Barkley trotted along nicely. I stopped to enjoy the silence...So you hear nothing but the sounds of the forest......when I looked at the ruins, I was standing practically face to face with a roe deer, really just a few meters away..... she looked at me... I looked at her.....and so we stood.....until the roe deer thought: "I think I'll move a little further on... you never know if this woman and that dog belong to the groups of hunters making the woods unsafe right now..........". What an impressive moment...... Of course, Barkley didn't notice a thing again, although like a tough hunting dog he sniffs and looks everywhere...... oh well...... the sweetie... I'll just let him believe that there's a hunting dog lurking inside him.......
