We genoten!

If you don't like cars, you should just skip this part....... We had a great morning at the "Embouteillage de Lapalisse". A biennial event, I believe. It commemorates the huge traffic jam of all the people who traveled from Paris to the Côte d'Azur for their holidays in the 50s and 60s, via the N7. A celebration of old cars, mopeds, trucks... entirely in the style of the 50s and 60s. It seemed to be incredibly busy in Lapalisse, and fortunately, we had pulled over a little earlier to watch all those cars passing by...... What a party that was; the most amazing cars came by, with the occupants all dressed in 50s and 60s attire as well....... We enjoyed it! My favorite cars were represented too: the Renault Dauphine, Peugeots in various sizes and shapes, the Traction Avant, our wedding car, the little Renault 4, and the Ami, which I find sooooo beautiful because it is so ugly. Furthermore, of course, lots of "ugly ducklings," Corvettes, Porsches, a procession of gendarmerie motorcycles with the gentlemen in full regalia, including sirens... We stood watching all morning... what do you expect... more than 900 cars participated... Some Dutch people were driving along too, and one gentleman was handing out packets of tulip bulbs to everyone from his car. And then it became midday... and what do the French do at midday? That's right... they go for lunch... the cars were parked along the side of the road, tables were unloaded, baguettes, wine, salads, and quiches were laid out... and lunch began! Amazing! The most beautiful photo is still the one of the French gentlemen with their 2CV..... And even though it was gloomy and grey..... it couldn't spoil the fun... what a nice morning... and....... my husband, a car enthusiast through and through, wants to join in in two years too🫣... oh, I can definitely see myself in such a cute 60s outfit........
