Nou ja zeg.......... 

In de vorige vakantie was ik begonnen om een oude Franse kast te schilderen. De bedoeling was dat 'ie in de (nog aan te leggen) keuken in de Grange zou komen. Ik wilde zo'n ouderwetse kast en bij de Emmaus had ik er eentje gevonden. In Nederland had ik verf laten mengen in de kleur saliegroen en de vorige vakantie ben ik begonnen met de kast te verven. De kast bestaat uit twee delen en ik begon met het bovenstuk. Toen ik de pot verf opende was het toch niet helemaal de kleur die ik in gedachten had, deze kleur groen was wat lichter en ook een iets andere kleurnuance, maar niet lelijk, dus ben ik toch gaan verven. Het zag er goed uit, al zeg ik zelf. Het bovenstuk van de kast stond al gauw in de verf.... nu het onderstuk nog....... en toen stootte ik de pot verf om.....aj.... redden wat er te redden viel, maar niet genoeg voor het hele onderstuk van de kast. Ik besloot de deurtjes vast wel te verven en voor het onderstuk zelf nieuwe verf bij te laten maken. Mocht dit dan wat kleurverschil opleveren dan zou dat geen grote ramp zijn. Terug in Nederland, toen de verf in de aanbieding was en ik met mijn kortingpas daarop nog eens 40 % extra korting kreeg (jaja ik ben wat dat betreft toch een echte Nederlandse...), een nieuwe pot bij laten mengen. Ik had het etiket van de oude pot mee en zo werd de verf gemengd. Ik kreeg nog even de kleur te zien en dacht...heee, volgens mij is deze wat feller van kleur.... maar ik kon me natuurlijk vergissen.....De jongeman, die de verf mengde, wilde eventueel nog wel een nieuwe pot mengen, maar ik dacht: ach... een beetje kleurverschil hoeft niet zo erg te zijn.......

EEN BEETJE KLEURVERSCHIL??????

Daar is iets niet goed gegaan en eigenlijk vind ik dat geen van beide kleuren op het saliegroen lijkt wat ik in mijn hoofd had.

Overigens komt de kast niet meer in onze aanstaande keuken te staan...dat komt niet door de kleuren overigens. Maar vorige vakantie zag ik zo'n geweldige kast bij de Emmaus...die moest het gewoon worden. Deze kast verhuist nu naar de vide in de Grange, daar waar de logeerkamers en de logeer-badkamer zich bevinden. En daar staat 'ie prima, ook in deze kleurencombinatie.

Maar toch... die kleuren.......

Er klopt iets niet........

Well, I'll be damned.......... During the last holiday, I started painting an old French cabinet. The plan was for it to go into the (yet to be installed) kitchen in the Grange. I wanted an old-fashioned cabinet like that, and I had found one at Emmaus. In the Netherlands, I had paint mixed in the color sage green, and during the last holiday, I started painting the cabinet. The cabinet consists of two parts, and I started with the top section. When I opened the can of paint, it wasn't quite the color I had in mind; this shade of green was a bit lighter and also a slightly different color nuance, but not ugly, so I went ahead and painted anyway. It looked good, if I do say so myself. The top section of the cabinet was painted in no time.... now for the bottom section....... and then I knocked over the can of paint.....ouch.... I saved what I could, but not enough for the entire bottom section of the cabinet. I decided to paint the doors first and have new paint mixed for the bottom section myself. If this resulted in a slight color difference, it wouldn't be a major disaster. Back in the Netherlands, when the paint was on sale and I got an extra 40% discount with my discount card (oh yes, I am a true Dutch person in that regard...), I had a new can mixed. I brought the label from the old can with me, and that is how the paint was mixed. I got to see the color briefly and thought... hey, I think this one is a bit brighter... but of course, I could be mistaken... The young man mixing the paint was willing to mix another can if needed, but I thought: oh well... a little color difference doesn't have to be that bad... A LITTLE COLOR DIFFERENCE?????? Here is the result when I wanted to paint the bottom part of the cabinet yesterday... Something went wrong there, and actually, I don't think either color looks like the sage green I had in mind. Incidentally, the cabinet won't be going into our future kitchen... that's not because of the colors, by the way. But last holiday I saw such an amazing wardrobe at Emmaus... it just had to be the one. This wardrobe is now moving to the mezzanine in the Grange, where the guest rooms and the guest bathroom are located. And it looks fine there, even in this color combination. But still... those colors....... Something isn't right........
