Vanochtend las ik dat Maggie Smith was overleden.... Dame Maggie Smith....een prachtige Britse actrice.... een film met haar is/was altijd bijzonder en de moeite waard om naar te kijken....... Het liefste zag ik haar in Downton Abbey als lady Violet..... wat een rol was dat... zij WAS lady Violet met haar prachtige uitspraken. Ze zag er ook prachtig uit in die serie. Eigenlijk bijna mooier dan "in het echt". Het kapsel en de kleding stonden haar! Ze heeft in zoveel  films en series gespeeld en ik noem twee favorieten van me : "Ladies in Lavender" en "The lady in the Van"... en niet te vergeten professor Anderling in Harry Potter. En nu is ze er niet meer.... en dat is een verlies en ik merk dat het me wat doet.......zo'n mooie vrouw, en dan vooral mooi in de zin van het spelen van haar karakter in een film. Letterlijk mooi vond ik haar niet, alhoewel.......ze deed vast niet aan botox, facelifts e.d., ze had, zeker naarmate ze ouder werd, ogen die niet helemaal tegelijk meedraaiden.......misschien juist daardoor was ze mooi.....En wat een vrouw als actrice. Ik heb natuurlijk geen idee hoe ze privé was, maar ze gaf haar karakters in films en series altijd iets speciaals mee. Maggie Smith werd 89 jaar...mag ik zeggen dat ik haar ga missen?

 

This morning I read that Maggie Smith had passed away.... Dame Maggie Smith....a beautiful British actress....a film with her is/was always special and worth watching.......I  loved to see her in Downton Abbey as Lady Violet.....what a role that was...she WAS Lady Violet with her beautiful statements. She also looked beautiful in that series. Actually almost more beautiful than "in real life". The hairdo and the clothes suited her! She has played in so many films and series and I will mention two of my favorites: "Ladies in Lavender" and "The lady in the Van"...and not to forget Professor Anderling in Harry Potter. And now she is no longer there....and that is a loss and I notice that it affects me.......such a beautiful woman, and especially beautiful in the sense of playing her character in a film. I did not find her literally beautiful, she had somewhat squinting and bulging eyes, which always caught my eye. But what a woman as an actress. Of course I have no idea what she was like in private, but she always gave her characters in movies and series something special. Maggie Smith was 89 years old... can I just say that I will miss her?
