Mijn kastje is klaar!! En hij is zooo geweldig geworden... al zeg ik het zelf......

Laatst bij de kringloop in Cusset geweest. Ik had nl op Facebook gezien dat er daar eentje was en.... ze hadden vorige week een "zone de gratuite" waar je dus voor niks spul mee kon nemen... echt wat voor mij dus...haha Omdat ik nog steeds op zoek ben naar leuke nachtkastjes was het een goed idee om daar te gaan kijken. Toen we er aan kwamen was de "zone de gratuite" al aardig leeg, maar er stond nog wel een nachtkastje... en wat voor eentje! Niet zo'n hoge, waar ik naar op zoek ben, maar wel een hele leuke met een la apart er bovenop. Die moest mee natuurlijk...in mijn ooghoek had ik nog een kastje zien staan met een mooi glazen ruitje voorin... die was wel erg leuk....maar zou het niet te hebberig zijn als we die ook meenamen? Eerst maar eens de kringloop zelf in waar we nog wat Franse CD's op de kop tikten en een mooie roze schaal.

Buiten gekomen kon ik het niet laten om toch nog even naar het kastje te kijken..... het was een kastje om flessen in te bewaren en met dat glazen ruitje was 'ie toch wel erg leuk..... dus ook toch: hebben! Bij de zone stond een box waarin je eventueel een donatie kon doen. Natuurlijk stopte ik daar wat in...zo blij met mijn spulletjes......

En de afgelopen dagen ben ik aan de slag gegaan met dat kastje. Het leuke nachtkastje laat ik denk ik zo., .misschien alleen schuren, behandelen en een lakje. Het "drankenkastje" was van fineer, dus daar kon je geen buil aan vallen. Ik besloot hem ossenbloed-rood, de kleur van onze luiken en de balk in de kamer, te verven. Ik had nog een rol behang liggen die ik bij de Emmaus op de kop had getikt en die zou ik voor de achterwand in het kastje gebruiken en de twee paneeltjes mee beplakken.

In totaal een dag of drie mee bezig geweest..maar het resultaat is zo leuk geworden!! Ben er zo blij mee... gisteren hebben we hem onder de trap gezet, de kleine stereo-installatie die in de Grange stond er bovenop. De mooie aardenwerken koekdoos uit de Emmaus er naast en achter het glazen deurtje mijn mooie theepot-set en wat foie-gras schaaltjes...... Het staat echt geweldig...... 

Het leuke is: bijna alles in, op en van het kastje komt van de kringloop....de stereo, de aardenwerken doos, de CD's in het kastje, de thee-set, de foie-gras schaaltjes.....alleen de verf niet........

het kleine nachtkastje

My little cabinet is finished!! And it turned out sooo amazing... if I do say so myself...... I was at the thrift store in Cusset recently. I had seen on Facebook that there was one there and... last week they had a "zone de gratuite" where you could take stuff for free... just my kind of thing... haha. Because I'm still looking for nice bedside tables, it was a good idea to go take a look there. When we arrived, the "zone de gratuite" was already pretty empty, but there was still a bedside table there... and what a one! Not a tall one like I'm looking for, but a really nice one with a separate drawer on top. Of course, we had to take that one... out of the corner of my eye I saw another cabinet standing there with a beautiful glass pane in the front... that one was really nice.... but wouldn't it be too greedy if we took that one too? First, we went into the thrift store itself, where we picked up some French CDs and a beautiful pink bowl. Once outside, I couldn't resist taking another look at the little cabinet... it was a cabinet for storing bottles, and with that little glass pane, it looked really nice... so I decided to take it after all! At the zone, there was a box where you could make a donation. Of course, I put something in there... so happy with my goodies... And over the past few days, I've been working on that cabinet. I think I'll leave the nice bedside table as it is... maybe just sand it, treat it, and give it a coat of varnish. The "drinks cabinet" was made of veneer, so you couldn't go wrong with that. I decided to paint it oxblood red, the color of our shutters and the beam in the room. I still had a roll of wallpaper lying around that I'd picked up at Emmaus, and I was going to use that for the back wall of the cabinet and to cover the two small panels. It took me about three days in total... but the result turned out so nice!! I'm so happy with it... yesterday we put it under the stairs, with the small stereo system that was in the Grange on top of it. The beautiful earthenware cookie tin from Emmaus next to it, and behind the glass door my lovely teapot set and some foie gras dishes...... It looks really great...... The nice thing is: almost everything in, on, and of the cabinet comes from the thrift store.... the stereo, the earthenware box, the CDs in the cabinet, the tea set, the foie gras dishes..... only the paint doesn't........ Well.... judge for yourself.........
