Gisteren stond het in het teken van "Kasten"...... Het zou heerlijk weer worden en ik had er zin in. Mijn twee 'gratis'  kastjes van de kringloop stonden in de Grange en ik had er over nagedacht wat ik er mee zou doen... wel verven? niet verven? Het nachtkastje is van "mooi" hout dus ik denk dat ik dat goed schoonmaak en verder zo laat. Het "drankenkastje" is van plaat en fineer. Dan vind ik het geen probleem om die te verven. Als de kast van mooi hout gemaakt is vind ik het vaak zonde om er een verfje op te smeren...bij dit kastje kon je er niet veel mee verknallen. Er komt stierenbloed-rood op, zoals onze luiken en de balk in de woonkamer, want daar komt ie uiteindelijk te staan. Na wat schuur-, preparatie- en schoonmaakwerk kon ik aan de slag met roller en kwast. En wooo, wat werd íe leuk, al zeg ik zelf😁..... en wat kun je dan toch nog weer dilemma's hebben! Wordt de binnenkant ook rood of cremewit.... in ieder geval komt aan de achterkant een stukje behang dat ik bij de Emmaus kocht en dat komt ook op de paneeldeurtjes aan de voorkant. Omdat ik al vroeg 's morgens was begonnen met schilderen kon ik 's middags een tweede rondje doen......wahaaaaa!!

Ondertussen was manlief samen met achterbuurman Patrice vertrokken om mijn kast op te halen bij de Emmaus. Na anderhalf uur kwamen ze weer terug en toen moest de kast nog uit de bestelbus worden getild en versjouwd naar de Grange. Ik had daar 's morgens het deel opgeruimd waar de kast zou komen te staan, maar omdat de vloer daar wel heeeeel erg verloopt moeten we toch eerst maar een laag beton storten. Dus zetten we de kast voorlopig in het voorste deel van de Grange.... we..... uuuh manlief en Patrice dan.... in de hitte...want in de zon was het intussen al over de 30 graden........Gelukkig was de kast in twee delen, dat scheelde met sjouwen, maar het onderste deel was toch nog wel loodzwaar. Gelukkig waren de mooie ruitjes in het bovenste deel heel overgekomen.

En nu staat íe dus in de Grange en moeten we eigenlijk deze week nog een betonvloertje storten......

Na al het harde werken was het tijd voor plezier en gingen we 's avonds met Patrice en vriendin Frederique gezellig uit eten. Bij het restaurant stond overigens nog "een toeristische trekpleister" in de vorm van de grootste waterklok ter wereld. Hihi in het piepkleine Lavoine...... Maar daarover een volgende keer meer.

Ik hoef niet te vertellen dat we een super-gezellige avond hadden........

Yesterday was all about "Cabinets"...... The weather was going to be lovely and I was looking forward to it. My two 'free' cabinets from the thrift store were in the Grange and I had been thinking about what to do with them... paint them? don't paint them? The bedside table is made of "nice" wood, so I think I'll clean it thoroughly and leave it as is. The "drinks cabinet" is made of plywood and veneer. In that case, I don't mind painting that one. If the cabinet is made of nice wood, I often find it a shame to slap some paint on it... but with this cabinet, you couldn't really mess it up. It's going to be bull's blood red, just like our shutters and the beam in the living room, because that's where it will eventually go. After some sanding, preparation, and cleaning, I could get to work with roller and brush. And wow, it turned out great, if I do say so myself 😁..... and the dilemmas you can still have! Will the inside be red or cream white too.... in any case, a piece of wallpaper I bought at Emmaus will go on the back, and that will also go on the panel doors on the front. Because I had started painting early in the morning, I was able to do a second round in the afternoon......wahaaaaa!! Meanwhile, my husband and our back neighbor Patrice had left to pick up my cupboard at Emmaus. They came back after an hour and a half, and then the cupboard still had to be lifted out of the delivery van and hauled to the Grange. I had cleared the area where the cupboard was going to stand that morning, but because the floor there slopes really, really badly, we'd better pour a layer of concrete first. So, for the time being, we put the cabinet in the front part of the Grange... we... uh, husband and Patrice, actually... in the heat... because by then it was already over 30 degrees in the sun... Fortunately, the cabinet was in two parts, which made carrying it easier, but the bottom part was still incredibly heavy. Luckily, the beautiful glass panes in the top part had arrived intact. And so now *it* is standing in the Grange, and we actually still need to pour a concrete floor this week... After all the hard work, it was time for fun, and in the evening we went out for a nice dinner with Patrice and his friend Frederique. Incidentally, at the restaurant there was also "a tourist attraction" in the form of the largest water clock in the world. Hehe, in tiny Lavoine... But more on that next time. I don't need to tell you that we had a super-fun evening...
