Hier had ik al een tijdje naar uitgekeken... de Franse film "Animale". Nou hou ik er sowieso al van om Franse films te kijken, maar naar deze "telde ik de dagen af" totdat hij te zien zou zijn. De film speelt zich nl af in de Camargue en gaat over het wereldje van de Course Camarguaise . De Course Camarguaise is een spel tussen een stier en stoere jongemannen (geen vrouwen), in het wit gekleed, die moeten proberen  touwtjes en strikjes (ficelles et cocardes) die tussen de hoorns van de stier zijn gebonden te bemachtigen. Ik kan hierover heel lang uitweiden en misschien doe ik dat nog wel eens in een volgend verhaaltje. Feit is dat ik me al heel lang erg verbonden voel met deze streek en de gewoontes, gebruiken en tradities. Toen wij destijds een piepklein "geitenstalletje" hadden daar in de regio behoorde de Course Camarguaise tot een terugkerende feest wat we vaak bezochten. En nu kwam er dus een film waarin de Course Camarguaise in voor kwam! Er werd vooral gebruik gemaakt van plaatselijke inwoners als acteurs... en laat nou één van die mensen bij mij bekend zijn... wat zeg ik..... ik heb hem zelfs ooit eens gezoend (nou moet ik eerlijk zeggen dat als je in Frankrijk, zoals jullie misschien wel weten, kennis maakt met iemand, je al gauw twee of drie zoenen ontvangt)... maar goed .... het klinkt wel goed.......ik heb hem gezoend. Degene die ik bedoel is Renaud Vinuesa, een zeer bekende manadier uit die regio. Een manadier is de eigenaar van een kudde stieren en paarden daar. Vaak zie je ze op de Zuid Franse feesten als er met paarden stieren door de straten worden gedreven, ze leveren de stieren voor de Course Camarguaise en ze leveren paarden en stieren, en doen zelf ook mee aan Ferrades, Bandido's etc. Ik merk dat ik allerlei Camargue termen aan het gebruiken ben en ik beloof dat ik hierover binnenkort wat meer zal schrijven. Ik begin ook weer af te dwalen want ik had het over de film "Animale" en het feit dat Renaud (overigens een loei-knappe man😂 vind ik, die ook nog eens geweldig kan paardrijden) mee deed. Die film moesten we dus zien. Dus zaterdagavond samen met Harmke (die de Course Camarguaise een warm hart toedraagt,; ze heeft daar veel jeugd herinneringen aan) en Frank naar Groningen, de dichtsbijzijnde plek waar de film draait. Ik had van te voren al bedacht dat het wel niet erg druk zou zijn, wie gaat er nu naar een Franse thriller-achtige film? Ik had natuurlijk van te voren de trailer al bekeken en gelezen dat de film een thriller-achtig thema had. Nou ben ik daar niet gek op maar goed...voor de Camargue (en Renaud😊) doe je alles......

Zoals verwacht, het was niet erg druk in de zaal..........12 mensen (inclusief wij drietjes).... dus we konden de beste plaatsen uitzoeken......

Bij de eerste beelden waande ik me meteen in de Camargue en in de tijd dat we erg veel daar in de omgeving kwamen.......pfff het deed wat met me.... de sfeer, de prachtige beelden, de stieren, de paarden, de kleding van de mensen, de taal (vaak eindigen woorden daar op "ing", bv "du pain" wordt uitgesproken als "du ping)... allemaal heel herkenbaar en vertrouwd. Zeker toen er op een gegeven moment tijdens een drinkfestijn het lied "La vache" werd gezongen, een lied dat gaat over de stieren en koeien uit de Course Camarguaise en dat wij daar regelmatig vertolkt hebben zien worden door de regionale Frans Bauer , Ricoune. Geweldig..... er kwamen weer zoveel herinneringen naar boven. Naarmate de film vorderde zat ik natuurlijk ook te wachten totdat Renaud Vinuesa ten tonele zou verschijnen. Wie weet was hij er wel uit geknipt....dat zou zo maar kunnen... maar nee, gelukkig... tijdens een overleg kwam hij meer dan duidelijk in beeld en hij had zelfs nog enkele zinnen tekst ook. Wahaaaaaa, dochter en manlief kregen meteen een elleboogstoot van mij... daar is hij......

Verder verklap ik niets over de film, zeker niet over de inhoud......maar is het een film die ik je aan zou raden?.....Om het verhaal hoef je het voor mij niet te gaan kijken, ik hou al niet van thrillers en tsja, het verhaal was ook niet echt sterk, maar als je de omgeving van de Camargue en tradities daar kent...ZEKER...dan MOET je er eigenlijk wel naar toe. Ik heb in ieder geval genoten en dinsdag ga ik met vrienden nog een keertje.

Wil je de film zien, dan moet je snel zijn, hij speelt maar in een paar bioscopen en ik denk dat hij niet lang draait, gezien het aantal toeschouwers die in onze zaal zaten. Ach, en misschien komt ie ook nog wel uit op DVD (maar zo groot op een scherm is wel geweldig).

They mainly used local people as actors... and one of those people happens to be known to me... what am I saying..... I even kissed him once (now I have to be honest, if you meet someone in France, as you may know, you will soon receive two or three kisses)... but anyway.... it sounds good.......I kissed him. The person I mean is Renaud Vinuesa, a very well-known manadier from that region. A manadier is the owner of a herd of bulls and horses there. You often see them at the Southern French festivals when bulls are driven through the streets on horseback, they supply the bulls for the Course Camarguaise and they supply horses and bulls, and they also participate in Ferrades, Bandido's etc. I notice that I am using all kinds of Camargue terms and I promise that I will write more about this soon. I'm starting to digress again because I was talking about the movie "Animale" and the fact that Renaud (by the way a very handsome man😂 I think, who can also ride horses amazingly) was in it. So we had to see that movie. So Saturday night together with Harmke (who has a soft spot for the Course Camarguaise, she has many childhood memories of it) and Frank to Groningen, the nearest place where the movie is showing. I had already figured out in advance that it wouldn't be very busy, who goes to a French thriller-like movie? Of course I had already watched the trailer in advance and read that the movie had a thriller-like theme. Well I'm not crazy about that but oh well...for the Camargue (and Renaud😊) you do everything...... As expected, it was not very busy in the hall..........12 people (including the three of us).... so we could choose the best places...... With the first images I immediately imagined myself in the Camargue and at the time that we spent a lot of time in the area.......pfff it did something to me.... the atmosphere, the beautiful images, the bulls, the horses,the clothes of the people, the language (often words there end in "ing", e.g. "du pain" is pronounced as "du ping)... all very recognizable and familiar. Certainly when at one point during a drinking party the song "La vache" was sung, a song about the bulls and cows from the Course Camarguaise and which we have regularly seen performed there by the regional French Bauer, Ricoune. Great..... so many memories came back. As the film progressed I was of course also waiting for Renaud Vinuesa to appear on the scene. Who knows, he might have been cut out.... that could very well be... but no, fortunately... during a meeting he was more than clearly in the picture and he even had a few lines of text. Wahaaaaaa, daughter and husband immediately got an elbow from me... there he is...... I will not reveal anything else about the film, certainly not about the content...... but is it a film that I would recommend to you?..... You don't have to watch it for the story, I don't like thrillers and well, the story wasn't really strong either, but if you know the area of ​​the Camargue and traditions there...CERTAINLY...then you MUST go there. I enjoyed it anyway and on Tuesday I'm going again with friends. If you want to see the film, you have to be quick, it's only playing in a few cinemas and I don't think it's going to be on for long, considering the number of spectators in our room.
